Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training for Gymnastics Clubs

Keep your gymnasts and gyms safe. Virtual workshops on child sexual abuse prevention in gymnastics will be offered twice a month for gymnastics club owners, coaches and staff throughout the country. These workshops will run free-of-charge through November 2021.

These 90-minute workshops will give club staff the knowledge and tools to effectively and confidently keep gymnasts and gyms safe. The workshops will cover:

  • Dynamics of child sexual abuse
  • Appropriate athlete-coach boundaries
  • How to recognize signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse
  • How to report suspicions of child abuse to child protective services, law enforcement and/or the U.S. Center for SafeSport
  • How to create a gym culture that promotes athletes’ wellbeing

ATTENTION NEW YORK STATE Gymnastics Clubs

Virtual workshops can be requested for an entire gymnastics club in New York State through a pilot project seeking to connect gymnastics clubs with local child protection experts to provide training and serve as an ongoing resource. These workshops will run free-of-charge through August 2022.
